In early October, Moscow was the third time overwhelmed by a riot of short films from the international festival shnit International Shortfilmfestival. This year the festival will be held in the cinema center “October” in the framework of the “KARO.Art. Other venues of the festival will be the cinema “Illusion”, the Moscow film school and the club “Science and Art”.

Festival shnit appeared in 2003 in Bern (Switzerland) and in 13 years has grown the event in early October, captures not only the native of Bern, but still seven cities on four continents. Buenos Aires (Argentina), Hong Kong (China), Cape town (South Africa), Cairo (Egypt), Moscow (Russia), San Jose (Costa Rica), Bangkok (Thailand) with head immersed in the atmosphere shnit, and the number of viewers is up to 40 thousand people. The number of applications (more than 10 thousand from 140 countries) shnit ranked fourth in the world, and first among short film festivals in the size of the prize Fund (100 000 $). This year’s winners will be awarded in new York on October 16.
Russia took shnit International Shortfilmfestival 2014. For two years the jury of the festival was attended by film critic Anton Dolin Anton Sazonov, Directors George Krizovnicka and Oksana Bychkova, actor Artur Smolyaninov, curator of pitching “Kinotavr” Anna Gudkova, and others. In 2016 the National competition jury consists of the Director Alexei Desired, producer Elena Glikman, film critic Oleg Zintsov and the President of the Russian television Academy “TEFI” Alexander Akopov.
This year the audience of the festival:- international competition INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: 60 films from around the world, divided into 10 blocks of 90 minutes;
– National competition ” MADE IN RUSSIA: 15 Russian-made films selected in the 3rd unit;
– PEEPING shnit program: special evening screening of short films erotic (18+) party at the space research Institute (Science and Art);
– Creative meetings with Directors of the national competition and master classes from invited guests, in partnership with the Moscow school of cinema;
– shnit CINEMAS: a program of six films in the international competition, which from 5-16 October, the audience will see outside the main Moscow festival site, in more than twenty cities of Russia.
shnit International Shortfilmfestival in Moscow is a five-day strong, touching, funny, topical, and Directors from all over the world. The theme of the festival this year – Beyond the borders (“Out of bounds”). Established by nature, the world of politics, society, our friends or ourselves – boundaries are often not allowed to see and feel what is happening outside. And if you dare to look behind them, you’ll find a very different reality from their feelings of happiness or disappointment, kindness or hypocrisy.
