Employees of Moscow criminal investigation Department detained two men who tried to sell stolen paintings, allegedly painted by Russian artist Alexei Savrasov. On Wednesday, March 9, reported on the website of the Moscow cupola MIA.

On the given fact criminal case as regards 4 articles 158 of the criminal code of Russian Federation (“the Theft made in especially large size”). Currently established the involvement of suspects in the theft of paintings, which focus on cultural examination to determine their identity, historical and artistic value.

According to the investigation, the paintings were stolen in 2014 from an apartment on Lomonosovsky Prospekt. The owner said that their author is a Russian artist Alexei Savrasov, and caused property damage of more than a million rubles.

February 16, 2016 in Moscow opened a criminal case against the pensioner, who stole from a private owner of a picture of Ivan Shishkin “Transfiguration” cost 11 million rubles. According to “Interfax”, the pensioner took the work back in 2009 under the pretext of assistance in its implementation. She then pocketed the picture and ordered the canvas on their own.

Alexei Savrasov (1830-1897) — Russian landscape painter, known for such works as “the Rooks have arrived”, “the Pechersk monastery near Nizhny Novgorod” and “country Road”.
