In Kiev, begins the film festival “Youth”

International film festival “Molodist” will start in Kiev on October 22. The event in the capital will show 250 films, the press service of the KSCA.

46th KIFF “Molodist” this year will be held from 22 to 30 October. Opening the festival will be held at the National academic drama theatre named after Ivan Franko. 30 October is the day of the audience during the festival. The festival will open with one of the big premieres at the Venice film festival French band Stephen Breeze “Life”, filmed on the novel by guy de Maupassant.

The closing film will be the last film by Andrzej Wajda “Plawres”. The Polish Oscar Commission has put forward “Plawres” for the award of American film Academy “Oscar” in the category “Best foreign language film”.

“Plawres” is the story of an avant – garde artist Wladyslaw Strzeminski (1893-1952), who were persecuted in Poland as the enemy of socialist realism.

Also one of the most anticipated events of the festival – Hungarian program dedicated to the revolution of 1956, the year in Hungary “Hungarian Rhapsody” (“Rhapsody ugorska).

The film festival Molodist was founded in 1970 as an overview of student and debut tapes of young Ukrainian filmmakers. Since 1987, the festival has become international.

Every year the festival gathers participants and guests from more than 60 countries, and all festival events and film screenings is visited by tens of thousands of visitors and spectators. For participation in the program of the 46th KIFF “Molodist” has received more than 2000 applications, of which we selected about 250 participants from 60 countries.
