The government of France for the third time extended the state of emergency operating in the country after the Paris attacks 13 Nov 2015. As reported by Agence France-Presse, the majority of deputies of the National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) voted to increase the validity period of a state of emergency for two months, until the end of July. It is expected that the Senate (upper house) in the near future, I support their decision.
This will allow the authorities to keep special security measures during the European championship on football which should take place in France from 10 June to 10 July.
As noted by French interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, “the level of terrorist threat in the country remains on a high mark and the Republic, as in the whole European community, remains for the terrorists aim to attack”. Earlier, his office reported on the preparation of the militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” new attacks on the territory of the Republic. The attacks may participate as fighters from other countries and extremists residing in France.
