Quota for asylum in the bloc, the EU needs to 160 thousand people.
In Hungary on Sunday, October 2, was opened polling stations: the inhabitants of the country in a referendum will decide what to do with the mandatory quotas for the distribution of migrants by members of the European Union.
According to the plans of the EU leadership, according to these quotas refuge in the countries of the block needs to obtain 160 thousand people. If the plans will be given the course, Hungary will have to take 1 294 person.
Public opinion polls taken before the vote showed that of those who intend to take part in the referendum, a high proportion of speakers against quotas. The referendum was declared valid, the turnout must exceed 50%.
Submitted to the referendum question: “do you Want to see the European Union had the right to compulsorily relocate persons who are not citizens of Hungary, in Hungary, even without the approval of the National Assembly (national Parliament – ed.)?”
In December last year, Hungary has filed a lawsuit, challenging the decision on compulsory quotas.
Speaking on television on 29 September, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said: “If more of those who said “no” than “Yes”, it would mean that the Hungarians do not accept the rules that the bureaucrats of the European Commission want to impose on us here… the more migrants the higher the threat of terrorism”.
The scheme of distribution of quotas was proposed by the EU in order to mitigate the consequences of the crisis for Greece and Italy, countries through which most migrants and refugees entering the EU.
