Hope the Moldovan and Russian realities

Молдавские надежды и российские реалии

In Russia again enthusiastically talking about the possible return of Moldova in Moscow’s orbit. In the first round of nationwide presidential elections former Minister of economy and Commerce Chairman of the party of socialists of Moldova Igor Dodon almost reached up to fifty percent barrier, providing him an early victory. In his rhetoric he is openly Pro-Russian position, but the joy joy, but the realities are the realities. The Kremlin, you can be sure, waiting for the next possible reversal of the geopolitical Republic in his side, throw that all away now as he has been doing in respect of Moldova and towards other allies.

This campaign — the first direct election of the President of Moldova with 1996. They were appointed after the decision of the constitutional court of 4 March 2016 decided, in 2000, amendments to the Constitution which established the procedure for the election of the President of the national Parliament, was unconstitutional. According to the law the President is elected for four years in a single nationwide constituency. The candidate is considered elected if he received more than half of the valid votes.

In order for the first round of the elections was voted on, the polls should come more than one third of registered voters. If no candidate received the needed to win number of votes in the first round, then after two weeks a second round between the two candidates with the highest number of votes.

Turnout for the second round is not provided. Only a miracle (or funded by Western partners, the coup) can prevent Igor Dodon from becoming President. According to the CEC of Moldova Igor Dodon has gained more than 48% of the votes of voters came to the polls, while his nearest rival for the race — the candidate from right-wing opposition, the head of the party “Action and solidarity” Maia Sandu — 10% less. Following the leaders of the journalist Dmitry Chubashenko, who received 6% of votes ideologically rather closer to Dodon than to Sandu. In addition, the current socio-political situation in Moldova is characterized by a General distrust in public institutions due to several corruption scandals, economic stagnation and the division of society on the issue of the European geopolitical choice of the country.

After the events of the 2009 so-called “Euro-integrators”, in fact, seized power, including the use of force (the defeat of the presidential administration and the Parliament of Moldova). Americans massacres called the “Twitter revolution”, the Russians, in particular the head of the faction “United Russia” Vladimir Pehtin has outlined, then, that in Moldova took place the “Purple revolution”. The split in society, a massive outflow of Moldovan specialists and researchers has led to the fact that the power in the country virtually came under the control of the criminal-oligarchic clan, Vlad Plahotniuc. The country has signed Evroassotsiatsiyu. The visa regime between Moldova and the Schengen States abolished from 28 April 2015.

At about that period in Moldova and began mass protests. In October 2015, after anti-government protests, the Parliament voted for the removal of former Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, accused of corruption, parliamentary immunity, and at the end of the month dismissed the government Valeriu strelet. It should be noted that the idea of Moldova’s integration into Romania has lost relevance in connection with the great difficulties of the Romanian economy, which in the foreseeable future “does not digest” large enough, but depressed and politically unstable new region.

But what preceded all those events of European integration in Moldova? This is a very important point. After all, it would seem that since 2001, the country was led by the son of the deceased in the great Patriotic war warrior, an ardent Communist, leader of the eponymous party, a native of Dubossary district (Transnistria) Vladimir Voronin. Was elected as President, receiving 71 votes of the 89 voting members. A constitutional majority! Moscow applauded. The Transnistrian Republic was jubilant.

Memorable than Voronin? For example, attempt to enter in Moldavskaya schools teaching the lessons of the Russian language, starting from the 2nd class. The introduction in school curricula of the study of the history of Moldova as an independent state, is taught before the “history of Romanians”. There was even a plan of federalization of Moldova with the inclusion of PMR and Gagauzia as Autonomous subjects with the broadest powers. On the eve of the elections, Voronin made a statement that his country together with PMR will come into the Union state of Russia and Belarus than it is restored the territorial integrity of Moldova.

For the first year of the reign Voronin met with Putin eight times, including at the CIS summit in Chisinau. Signed a Treaty of friendship and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova. But on signing and annual greetings with the independence day of the Republic did not go to the Kremlin.

This is typical of oligarchic comprador elite of the Russian Federation. Declaring friendship and cooperation, proclaiming deep integration, a Union of peoples, the removal of barriers and obstacles for entrepreneurs, the Kremlin has systematically ignores their natural strategic partners, trying to use the loyal leaders of the republics exclusively for building business schemes.

Completely loyal and is surrounded by Western sanctions, Lukashenko simply get lost in the intricate catacombs of Russian politics, and would prefer to end cooperation with Europe and the United States. Yanukovych and Russian people in the Ukraine and not become a victim of avanturisticki Russian of Putin’s policies. Than said Moscow Voronin? The fact that after numerous meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2001 and 2002, the question of accession of Moldova to the Union of Russia and Belarus was not resolved. Who is responsible for it? No doubt — big brother. Therefore, not necessary to be surprised why, since 2003, Voronin declares that the foreign policy priority of Moldova is the European integration, the ultimate goal should be the integration in the European Union. Around the same time, the European emissaries were actively treated and Kiev, and Tbilisi. The current contender for victory in Moldovan elections in a sense repeats Voronin’s statement 15 years ago.

The socialist leader intends to restore the strategic partnership with Moscow, the return of Moldovan products to the Russian market and to normalize the cooperation in the energy sector. According to Dodon, the federalization of Moldova is the most acceptable way of settling the Transnistrian conflict. This plan was developed back when Voronin and included the provision of Transnistria and Gagauzia’s special status with the right to block acts of Parliament of Moldova unilaterally. The Russian army would be entitled to based in Moldova for over 20 years.

Dodon is a well — known opponent of rapprochement with NATO and the European integration course. Perfect figure for the Russian policy in Moldova. Dodon convenient to Moscow and in the sense that the political subjectivity of Moldova has long does not leave her any chance to fight for their existence as a United and indivisible state. And hence the Pro-Russian leader could, with some effort to “push” the change in the European orientation of the country, recognized by the Constitutional court. But again, you need a gesture of good will and interest of the Kremlin. And yet, except occasional statements in the media, is not noticeable.

Have you changed the Moscow authorities since 2003? No, post all the same Putin. Forecast? Nothing changed except in direction violation of the fundamental interests of Russia and related historical civilizational space.
