Although the festival appeared in India, now it is celebrated in a big way in many countries. And this is not surprising, because Holi is a fun and beautiful holiday. By the way, besides the arrival of spring, the festival of Holi symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
There are various legends about the origin of the festival. Among the best known of the legend of Holika and Prahlada, and the tale of Radha and Krishna. Usually Holi is celebrated a few days in late February-early March. In the city centre, make a fire, which burnt the effigy of the demoness Holika.
In the following days, people carry out processions, showered each other with colored powder. Each color has a special meaning in Indian culture. Red symbolizes love and beauty, green – new beginnings and a rich harvest. In India the celebration is accompanied by drinking it “tanday” decorated “bhange”. This drink contains a small amount of marijuana.
