The tribes of Surma and Mursi living in southern Ethiopia, have a special love for beauty and is truly passionate about visual appeal. As you will see in the pictures below, aesthetics plays a huge role in the life and culture of the members of these African societies.
They decorate themselves, coming up with new outfits and accessories from everything that comes their way. The tribe members learned to effectively utilize the many gifts of nature: dry herbs, flowers, mineral pigments, volcanic dust, etc.

Pictures become more valuable in light of recent political events and instability, which can lead to complete disappearance of tribes. Already, most of the men of the Surma and Mursi universally carry guns, and tourists are allowed to approach the tribal areas unless accompanied by armed guards.
