High doses of paracetamol can lead to fatal consequences

Высокие дозы парацетамола могут привести к фатальным последствиямIt increases the risk of heart attack.

A daily intake of high doses of paracetamol may increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes and early death, warn British scientists from the University of rheumatic and musculoskeletal medicine at Leeds.

It was found that patients who were prescribed high doses of painkillers for a long time, had up to 63% more likely to die prematurely.

The risk of heart attack or stroke they had to 68% higher, and the risk of stomach ulcers or gastric bleeding was increased by 50%.

Many doctors think that paracetamol is safer than aspirin, which can cause stomach bleeding, and ibuprofen, which increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

But British researchers, who studied about 666000 patients say that the risks of paracetamol may be underestimated, and requires large safety inspection of this drug.

Experts suggest that acetaminophen may be the cause of ailments, thus preventing the action of an enzyme in the body called COX-2.
