Domestic Internet giant Rambler.ru was the victim of a powerful attack aimed at stealing user data. Attackers not only achieved his goal, but managed to do without hacking encrypting the passwords, because no encryption was not at all.
According to the portal ZDNET, Rambler.ru stores all passwords directly in text form — no protection, hashes, and other things that could make life difficult for the criminals. Hackers managed to steal data about 98 million accounts with all the resources of the Rambler, so, maybe your profile is on the list too. Nothing to do with it anymore, but it is possible, first, to abandon the use of the resource with such an unreliable defense, and secondly, to change the password to the profile on a complex and natberry, and at the same time to change the other reference — to the phone number and email.
Hackers got access to passwords, email addresses, and links to pages of users in social networks, where they can obtain information about the names, dates of birth and other information that most people still for some reason put on public display. Unfortunately, this is not the first such hacking in the Internet and almost certainly not the last. Recently social network “Vkontakte” also leaked user data, only two times larger — hackers captured data on 171 million accounts.
