Give us Turkey us military base?

Отдаст ли нам Турция американскую военную базу?

Relations between Turkey and the United States continue to deteriorate. Yesterday, thousands of demonstrators marched towards the NATO’s military base “Incirlik”: they chanted anti-American slogans, the March was shown live on state television:

The military base during the coup attempt were hiding the rebels — that, in General, is not surprising. For an unsuccessful coup attempt clearly are Americans and therefore the rebels was quite logical to use American military base.

It is noteworthy that during the suppression of the rebellion, the Turkish authorities did not hesitate to surround and shut down the base “Incirlik” — blocking thereby located at the base of the American troops. It would seem that unbearable arrogance on the part of the Turks: it was blocked not only U.S. Marines but also us nuclear weapons. However, to protest against the actions of Turkey, the Americans did not dare: it is very very shiny at the moment down on their star-spangled stigma.

Another distinctive touch. In early July, the Turkish foreign Minister suddenly declared that Turkey is ready to invite Russian troops for military zaboo Incirlik:

It’s only been two weeks since that statement, and the Americans tried to carry out in Turkey coup. Do not be surprised if the prospect of losing the most important from a strategic point of view, a military base in Turkey that prompted the Americans to act decisively.

At the moment the relations between Turkey and the United States continue to deteriorate. Turkey officially blames the Americans in an uprising, the United States, in turn, continue to resent the closure of the Pro-American media and other protective measures President Erdogan:

Talking about yesterday’s people’s March to a U.S. military base?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we are witnessing the preparations for the transfer of this base. Despite its Eastern flexibility, President Erdogan seems to have finally realized that the Americans are trying to destroy him physically, and therefore to cooperate with them is too dangerous.

A logical step for the Turkish authorities would have been a partial rupture of relations with America — the less the United States the opportunity to influence what is happening in the country, the less they can hurt. Well, because from a geopolitical point of view Turkey still need to cooperate with some strong player, the withdrawal from Turkey of Americans will surely lead to an immediate invitation to their place the Russian.

In St. Petersburg on 9 August will take place a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The presidents will discuss frozen after the shooting down of our aircraft projects including Turkish stream, which is still very interesting as Turkey and Russia:

Erdogan in relations with Europe is a great trump card — he can give the EU the flow of refugees, which will be for European leaders a real nightmare, especially after a series of terrorist attacks in Germany. However, for Ankara there is no benefit, and Erdogan can’t get over your blackmail any tangible bonuses. Yes, he has promised billions of euros, but Europeans immediately threw on payment, but still demanded control over spending. This is clearly not what you need for the Turkish leader. He was counting on the acceleration of negotiations on Turkey’s membership in the EU or at least a visa-free regime, but now it is clear that the EU it will never go.

In this context, the Turkish stream is manna from heaven for Erdogan. First, after the implementation of the project, Turkey will significantly strengthen its influence in the South of the EU and its negotiating position with the EU as a whole. Secondly, Turkey is approaching the coveted role of a regional distributor of gas flows and will be for many years, the income from transit. And most importantly — the Turkish stream would be a great tool to restore relations with Russia. All these bonuses Erdogan get if I can force the European Commission to give the green light to the pipeline.

If it was a few years ago, I suggested that on August 9, we will see the signing of any walk-through documents on the Turkish stream and the nuclear power plant “Akkuyu”, the construction of which, it seems, will go now at a heightened pace:

However, in the court we have the summer of 2016. Events are developing very rapidly. So I won’t be surprised if on 9 August, the news will write about some of the sensation — for example, the decision of the Turks to let the base “Incirlik” operating in Syria, the Russian VKS.
