The return of the Giro on home Diego Ulissi noted effective attack in the last kilometers.
The breakaway of the day (Combat, Mohoric, Brandl and Rosskopf) was eliminated in 50 kilometers to the final stages – by the time it became clear that the German Sprinter Marcel Kittel will not take on their shoulders the pink Jersey.
