The Berlin called for the respect of democratic order in Turkey.
In connection with the attempted military coup in Turkey, Germany expressed support for the democratically elected government of this country.
“The democratic order in Turkey must be respected. Everything must be done to protect human lives,” – wrote on Twitter the official representative of the government of Germany Steffen Seibert.
Seibert also noted that German Chancellor Angela Merkel in connection with the events in Turkey maintains close contact with foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel.
Late in the evening of 15 July a group of military in Turkey attempted coup. By morning, it was reported that a coup attempt was suppressed.
