France has canceled a meeting of the “Weimar triangle”

Франция отменила встречу «Веймарского треугольника»Paris was canceled the next meeting of the presidents of the “Weimar triangle” (France, Germany and Poland).

This information was confirmed by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda.

“France took this decision (about the cancellation of the meeting – ed.),” said Duda. He noted that the refusal of Poland from the purchase of the French helicopter Caracal was not political, but economic motives.

At the same time, the President of Poland expressed the view that Warsaw should act with some new initiative in France to show that Warsaw and Paris are close countries.

Recall that in early October, Poland was suddenly suspended negotiations with the French company Airbus Helicopters at an offset transaction in respect of Caracal helicopters. Warsaw justified it by the fact that the counterparty has not provided a proposal that would “take due account of economic interests and security of the Polish state”. In response, the CEO of the Airbus Group Guillaume Fori in an open letter to the head of the government of Poland Beata Szydlo has denied claims by the Polish government side that the French did not want to make concessions to Warsaw in the signing of the contract, and outlined the details of the negotiations and the proposals of the company.

Immediately after that, the Elysee Palace said that French President Francois Hollande has postponed a planned for October 13 visit to Poland in the framework of the Polish-French intergovernmental consultations. The Polish government in April 2015 with Airbus Helicopters began final negotiations for the supply of helicopters for the Polish army. In September of the same year, negotiations began regarding an offset transaction, which was a condition for signing the final contract.
