In 2001, Tom Hanks and Robert back seriously thinking over the proposal to remove the second part of “Forrest Gump”, in which there was a speech about important world events that occurred after the period of the original film. The scenario of continuing increased from the book by Winston Groom, in his time, who wrote the original for the first film. The second book came to light solely because of the success of the film adaptation: Grum rightly reasoned that the sequel may well be born, and if so, should hurry up, and be ready at the right time, sold his creation for a good price
The author of the screenplay for “Forrest Gump” Eric Roth took over the adaptation of the second novel in 2001, and his story began just a couple of minutes after the end of the original tape. Working title films – “Gump and company”
Forrest Gump ends up with nothing: the shrimp business got burned, and his beloved Jenny died in the first picture. In the end, an unemployed single father is forced to adapt again to life, and at the same time passes through the most important milestones in the history of the 80-ies and 90-ies, as usual, communicating with the most important personalities and becoming participant in epochal events.

A special mention deserves the famous story of O. J. Simpson — American athlete and actor, who was accused of a double murder, and the police chasing in cars across Los Angeles. In the second scenario, “Forrest Gump” the main character is lying on the back seat of the jeep Simpson, leaving from a pursuit, and he in peculiar naive manner persuaded O. J. to give up and not to commit suicide.
The book ends with the presence of the Gump when the famous terrorist attack in Oklahoma city in ‘ 95. But screenwriter Eric Roth has decided that the final sequel will be unfolded in the night before the September 11 attacks. “We discussed it with Tom and Bob looked at each other and realized that it was wrong. – told Eric Roth. The world changed after these events. Now, of course, it’s been a while, but I think that some things should be left as is”
Most likely, if the project is implemented, it would be like a pale copy of “Forrest Gump”, with corrections for modern realities. Screenwriter Eric Roth managed to do a great job on the plot, before Zemeckis and Hanks have not lost interest in the film. Maybe it’s a good idea: a sequel would invariably be compared to the original, but it’s so good that very unlikely to remove something even better.
It is noteworthy that on the first pages of the novel the main character utters the phrase:”take my word for it — anyone and never allow to make a movie about your life. It doesn’t matter — a good shoot or bad”
