The reigning world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Jean Belenus first time in his career won the Olympic medal.
Belenus in the category up to 85 kg started in the 1/8 final match against Egyptian Mohamed Saad Kiev passed the 20-year-old opponent, winning his initial battle in Rio de Janeiro with the score 9:0.
For the semi-finals Belenus competed with Bulgarian Nikolay Birkonim. And with this rival Ukrainian had no problems winning with a score of 10:1.
The last barrier of Belenko on the way to an Olympic medal was a 26-year-old native of Dagestan Dzhavid Gamzatov, representing Belarus. Bronze medalist at the 2013 world serious obstacle for Belenko did not become – a victory with the score 6:0.
For the gold Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro Jean Belenus will compete with 23-year-old native Kutaisi, representing Russia, Davicom Chakvetadze.
