Fantasy writers justified.
The movies often look in the future, so there is nothing strange in the fact that sometimes they are lucky and guesses are correct. Once “star trek” predicted Bluetooth headsets, and “total Recall” – unmanned vehicles, and it was impressive, but let’s be honest – in comparison with the predictions on this list, this is just the beginning.
15. The cable guy (1996) – communication
At the end of the film, the character Jim Carrey gave a very convincing prophecy: “the Future is now. Soon in every home in America TV, telephone and computer merge together. On one channel you can visit the Louvre, and on the other to watch women’s wrestling. You can shop from home and playing Mortal Kombat with a friend from Vietnam”. Of course, in 1996 it all in some kind already existed, but on such accessibility for all could only dream of. Well, the prediction about online play deserves a special mention – it’s really impressive.
14. Airplane II: the Sequel (1982) – airport security
The film was released, but surprisingly he was able to accurately predict the future of airport security. The creators of the film placed in the imaginary airport technology that did not exist in 1982, but are actively used at all airports today – for example, a scanner that allows you to see what a person hides under clothing. The first scanner was invented only in 1992 – 10 years after the film’s release.
13. Back to the future II (1989) – telecommunications
Much of what we were promised in “Back to the future II” that never came true (we’re still waiting for hoverboards are real), but something the creators have hit the mark. To some extent, they predicted Skype – of course, not entirely accurate, but the prediction is still impressive. The talk on TV with someone from anywhere in the world –quite a bold guess for 1989. Not to mention the flat screens that in 2015, really is in every home.
12. Destroyer (1993) – a real killer
Although many futuristic elements in the “Destroyer” has not yet become a reality, the two predictions do come true. First on the computer display, you can read the list of inmates of death row from Los Angeles, and among them there is a Scott Peterson. In real life, Scott Peterson was indeed sentenced to death for the murder of his wife and unborn child, but it happened only 9 years after the release of the film. The killer is still awaiting execution and it is possible that in 2032 the sentence still will not be executed. The second prediction – Arnold Schwarzenegger as President. Of course, so far he has not come, but the Governor is pretty close.
11. Trickery (1997) – scandal Clinton-Lewinsky
In the movie “Wag” the President of the United States is involved in a major sex scandal that threatens his career. To hush up the scandal, a special team strikes up an artificial war to distract the attention of the media. Interesting idea, but too farfetched, right? The film was released in late 1997. The following year bill Clinton, the current President of the United States, was embroiled in a sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky. The scandal was actively discussed in the media, but only three days later, the U.S. began to bomb sites in Afghanistan and Sudan. Coincidence?
10. Space Odyssey 2001 (1968) – computers
In 1968, Stanley Kubrick was able to make many accurate predictions about life in the 21st century. He believed that in 2001, the tablets and talking computers will be commonplace, and he was absolutely right. Well, almost –Microsoft has launched the first tablet in 2000, but they gained popularity only in 2010.
9. Woman in the moon (1929) – space rocket
In 1929, Director Fritz lang made one of the first sci-Fi movies, and it was truly revolutionary. Flying in space was predicted long ago, but the details in this film is really amazing. In “Woman on the moon” was shown those elements of the launch, which previously was simply unheard of, and after the movie a really really started to practice with the rocket launcher. For example, the pre-start countdown from 10, the use of straps and horizontal beds, to make it easier to carry the load, and use a multistage rocket.
8. Enemy of the state (1998) – surveillance NSA
In 1998, the idea that the government can spy on us through cell phones and other devices that seemed ridiculous. But this idea formed the basis of an “Enemy state”, where the hero will Smith tries to convince others that the national security Agency USA illegally monitored citizens. The idea, of course, is not new, but the execution was surprisingly close to reality. 15 years later the NSA was at the center of scandal when it was revealed that the Agency really follows the residents of the United States – exactly as predicted by the “enemy of the state”.
7. Game of death (1972) – death of Brandon Lee
“Game of death” is surrounded by many conspiracy theories, and one incredible coincidence really deserves discussion. The star of the film, Bruce Lee died before the end of filming. The film had to collect the pieces, he already shot scene. In the final version of the film features a scene that is the most amazing way foretells an event from the future. In this scene, Lee plays an actor who shoots a scene for the film. In this scene, it must fire the gun with blanks. However, the bullets are real, and the hero is badly wounded. The scene didn’t give it much thought until 1994, when during the filming of “the Crow,” killed the son of Bruce, Brandon Lee. The actor was killed during the shooting with a pistol shot, which was supposed to be loaded with blanks.
6. Superbrute Mario (1993) – 9/11
The film was not liked by the audience at the time of release in 1993, and to date, nothing has changed. However, one specific scene from the movie a few years ago has provoked much discussion. At the end of the movie, when the two worlds begin to merge, there is something really strange – the twin towers begin to disappear, but in a rather unusual way. The top of the South tower begins to crumble, and in the North tower there is a hole so the tower collapsed during the terrorist attack of 11 September, 8 years after the release of the film “Superbrute Mario.”
5. The China syndrome (1979) – the accident at the nuclear power plant Three Mile island
The film, which is built around a faulty nuclear reactor and attempt to hide it, mysteriously predicted the actual events that have occurred after just a few days after its release. Immediately after the premiere industry representatives nuclear energy blasted the film for unsubstantiated claims and demanded to withdraw it from the rental. Unfortunately, just 12 days after the premiere, the nuclear power plant Three Mile island had an accident, which to this day is considered the largest in the history of nuclear power in the United States.
4. The lone gunmen (2001) – 9/11
It’s not a movie, but the coincidence is too striking not to dignify it with a mention. In the pilot episode of the spin-off of “Secret materials”, which was released in March 2001, the plot is built around the idea of terrorists hijack a 747 aircraft and crash it into the towers of the world trade center. Moreover, the plot implied the potential intervention of the US government and the subsequent war overseas. Many serials and movies in the past have included plans for the destruction of the twin towers, but none got as close to the real events of 11 September.
3. Above suspicion (1995) – paralysis Christopher Reeve
In this film, actor Christopher Reeve plays the role of a COP who was paralyzed by a gunshot wound. The film was released on HBO on may 21, 1995. Only six days later, Reeve fell from his horse, which led to paralysis of all limbs. Before the release of the film the actor said in an interview that a study of the theme of paralysis to prepare for the role helped him to realize that it can happen to anyone – an eerie statement given subsequent events.
2. The matrix (1999) – 9/11
When Agent Smith interrogates Neo in “the Matrix”, there is something really strange. We know that the Matrix is an artificial world and actions in it are dated to 1999, whereas in the real world is 2199. That is, the real world is much faster than the simulated events in the Matrix. We also know that Neo is a programmer who works in one of the buildings of the world trade center. During interrogation agent Smith pulls out Neo file that has a copy of his passport. Prolonged and see the validity of the passport ends on 11 September 2001. Now the question is the validity of the passport or the Neo?
1. Poltergeist (1982) – the death of Heather O’rourke
Remember Heather O’rourke? She played the little girl Carol Ann in “Poltergeist”? Unfortunately, little actress died in the age of 12 from septic shock. But what is really scary: in the film you can see hand-drawn by the heroine’s brother a poster of super bowl XXII in 1988. This is already strange in itself, because the film is set in 1982, the year of its release. This game was held in San Diego January 31, 1988. On this day in San Diego, Heather O’rourke was seriously ill. The next morning she lost consciousness and it was taken by helicopter to hospital where she died. Many have linked her death with the curse of “Poltergeist” – true or not, but the coincidence is really weird and creepy.
