Over the last 10 years in Russia were lost more than 2,5 thousand monuments of culture, said during the Moscow urban forum, a senior researcher at the Institute for media, architecture and design “Strelka” Elizaveta Levitskaya.
The expert referred to the report on the role of culture for the development of cities of Russia, which “Arrow” was prepared for the UNESCO. The study was designed the question of preservation of cultural heritage.
“Russia is still not formed an understanding that conservation and development are interrelated concepts”, – quotes the words Levitskaya, RIA “Novosti”.
According to her, 50-70% of cultural monuments in the country today are in poor condition. This, she said, is connected including with the fact that responsibilities for the preservation of monuments is vested in the state on private investment accounts for only 10%.
