Ex-sports Minister of Kazakhstan sentenced to 14 years in prison

Экс-министр спорта Казахстана приговорен к 14 годам заключенияTalgat Ermegiyaev found guilty in the embezzlement of funds in especially large sizes.

In Kazakhstan, the court sentenced the former sports Minister Talgat Ermegiyaev to 14 years in prison on charges of corruption.

On 9 June a court in Astana found him guilty of bribery and on the same day sentenced. To serve his sentence he will be in the colony.

47-year-old Talgat ermegiyaev was Minister of sport and tourism from 2011 to 2012. In January 2013 he was appointed Chairman of the NAC Expo-2017, which was responsible for the organization of the international energy exhibition, planned for June-September 2017.

In July 2015 Ermegiyaev arrested during the investigation on embezzlement of funds in especially large sizes. Together with ex-Minister today, the verdict was brought in the rest of the ten defendants in the case “Expo”.

In recent years, Kazakhstan began the investigation of a number of officials, some of them received long prison terms.
