The national film Academy of Armenia adopted a decision to nominate a new film sarika Andreasian “Earthquake” in ‘ 89 the prize “Oscar” in the category “Best foreign language film”. In Russia the film, which was based on real events, will be released December 1.
“Earthquake” by Sarik Andreasyan nominated for “Oscar”-2017
“Earthquake” tells of the terrible natural disaster that occurred in the North-West of Armenia on 7 December 1988. The Spitak earthquake of a magnitude of about 7 points raised about three hundred settlements and leveled the town of Spitak, the epicentre of the disaster. At least 25 thousand people died, and about half a million lost their homes. In the center of the plot of the new film sarika Andreasian – human attempts to cope with the elements and the conflict of the two main characters, 25-year-old Armenian by Robert and the Russian Builder of Constantine, which, according to Robert, are guilty of the terrible tragedy that occurred eight years ago with his family.

Reportedly, the film Academy of Armenia was considered as contenders for the “Oscar” two paintings: “the Local time 28:94” David Safaryan and “the Last resident” of Jivan Avetisyan. Of the 24 members of the Academy vote for “Earthquake” gave nine people, six voted for “the Last resident”, three for “Local time 28:94”, and another six – against all. Now film will go through to the shortlist – it will happen or not, will solve the American film Academy.
