They have tested this vaccine on cell cultures and found that it provokes an immune response and the formation of antiviral antibodies.

Martin Moore Martin Moore), one of the members of the research team, noted that it seems surprising is the fact that over the last 50 years, no one attempted to create such a vaccine. The authors have made a combined vaccine containing fragments of a variety of rhinovirus strains. Scientists believe the introduction of this vaccine will result in immunity against a variety of rhinoviruses.

The developers plan to support further research by the National Institute of Allergy and infectious diseases. In the future they hope to begin production of a vaccine that protects from the cold.

The authors note that the rhinoviruses do not have a large variability, like viruses influenza because the vaccine for the common cold will not have to modify each year – it will be effective for several seasons.
