In some types of cancer people are able to live for 10 years or more, this is the opinion of British experts.
Scientists from the UK have shared the results of the analysis of statistical information submitted by the hospitals. Their conclusions say that today in a number of cases of oncological diseases people can live quite some time after setting the “scary” diagnosis.
“Cancer is not a death sentence, and certain malignancies, it is possible to control, thereby reducing the risk of sudden death,” said the researchers.
Scientists call those cancerous ailments that develop slowly, enabling patients with a tumor not to go suddenly from life. “The trend to live for 10 years or more characteristic of women suffering from breast cancer and for men suffering from prostate cancer,” the analysts said.
At the same time, experts are forced to agree with the opinion that sometimes a cancer diagnosis is nearly a death sentence. According to them, the statistical analysis shows that among patients with cancer of the lung, pancreas and brain, the probability of prolongation of life is sharply reduced. “Only 6% to 12% of people with such diagnoses have the opportunity to live to old age,” provides a summary of the scientists.
