The Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu announced his resignation. He stated this at a briefing in Ankara.

Davutoglu also stepping down as leader of the Turkish ruling party of justice. According to him, he does not intend to seek re-election at an extraordinary party Congress.

“After consultation with the President, I came to the conclusion that the change of the party leader and Prime Minister will be for the better”, – quotes the speech of Davutoglu’s New York Times.

The politician said that the change of leadership must be conducted in a peaceful manner to “preserve the unity of the party”.
