Daily Telegraph: Russia has thrown the forces of the two fleets on taking Aleppo

Daily Telegraph: Россия бросила силы двух флотов на взятие Алеппо

Daily Telegraph: Россия бросила силы двух флотов на взятие АлеппоRussia is carrying out “the largest transfer of surface forces since the end of the cold war”, writes the Daily Telegraph, speaking of the ships of Northern and Baltic fleets, which are now sent to Syria. The publication notes that the purpose of this transfer is to reinforce air strikes on Aleppo, to finally take the city. Then Vladimir Putin will be able to withdraw its troops from Syria.

NATO officials said that Russia has launched “the largest transfer of surface forces since the end of the cold war“. Its goal is to intensify the bombing of Aleppo and “to lay Russia a way out of the civil war in Syria“, reports the Daily Telegraph.

A senior NATO diplomat, whose name the publication does not mention, believes that the transfer of the Northern and part of the Baltic fleet marks another gain in attacks on Aleppo.

“They are relocating the entire Northern fleet and the Baltic fleet. It is the largest transfer of surface forces since the end of the cold war. It’s not just entering into a friendly port. Within two weeks we will witness a sharp increase in the intensity of air strikes on Aleppo, as it is part of Russia’s strategy to achieve victory”, – said the diplomat.

The publication writes that the additional firepower is needed in order to displace or to destroy 8 000 in Aleppo of insurgents. After that, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin will be able to begin withdrawing troops from Syria. In addition, the onset of this Syrian city will highlight the inaction of the United States that might play into the hands of the candidate in presidents of the United States Donald Trump, the Daily Telegraph.

However, the intensification of air strikes will further worsen relations between Moscow and the West, says the British newspaper. Meanwhile, the path heading to the Mediterranean ships of the Russian Navy is off the coast of the UK. Two British warships will be for some time to escort the Russian court.
