Recently JSC Goznak said about the positive outcomes and preparedness for scaling of the project “Planet”, in result of which in August 2014 on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic there were coins made of composite material.
The composite material is characterized by a porous fibrous multi-layered structure. The composite coins, which will be discussed later, is actually composed of several layers of impregnated polymer materials under high temperatures United in a single whole. For example, the composite image of each coin, unlike metal counterparts, is not on the surface and the inside under another outer layer.

Among the reasons for the occurrence of the composite of coins at that time was called the short life of small-denomination notes, the average component in Transnistria 6-12 months. As the metal coins, then quickly lose their gloss, expensive production, limited color palette, low popularity among the population and the high risk of fraud, also did not inspire confidence in the issuers.
In an interview with “Golden Ducat” 2014 head of the Department to ensure the production of banknotes of the Central Bank of Transnistria Igor Kharchenko told about the low weight, low cost fabrication, ease of recognition by the population and the increased durability of the Transnistrian coins made of composite materials. According to Kharchenko, except for test in “Goznak” of the coin also underwent additional testing, organized by the representatives of the Transnistrian Central Bank and including freezing, fire, the room in acid, mechanical impact and long-term ultraviolet radiation. According to the results of testing composite coins confirmed their strength and resistance to wear.
To the peculiarities of Transnistrian coins, made by technology “Planet” include also:

- Transparency in the consideration of coins in the light
- Resistance to contamination.
By the way, transparency stands as one of the elements of the protection of coins against possible fraud along with Golosnoy grid on the reverse side, microtext, UV luminescence, and the IR properties imaginosity signs.

In addition to the above characteristics of the Transnistrian composite of coins deserves special attention the fact that the coin of each denomination has not only its color but also its own form: four-, five-, hexagonal and round, which allows to distinguish the coins from each other as visually and to the touch.
The yellow-brown round coin 1 rouble depicts the portrait of A. V. Suvorov, on the green square coin 3 rubles the portrait of F. P. De-Volan, the pentagonal 5-ruble coins blue looks P. A. Rumyantsev-zadunaysky, and on the front side of the 10-ruble coin, it is a hexagonal portrait of Catherine II. Color scheme chosen by the Transnistrian Central Bank is not accidental and corresponds to the palette, notes of the USSR of the sample of 1961.
Currently, the treatment of the inhabitants of the Republic are the traditional bills and metal coins and put into circulation coins made of composite materials.
To date, composite coins are not yet released for mass circulation. According to General Director of JSC “Goznak” Arkady Trachuk, to date, development of the technology “Planet” was successful, and the prospects for its scaling are discussed with several banks.
