Russia is firmly determined to push for the transformation of the WADA in a really “clean” and honest organisation.
On the eve of the Lausanne city hosted an important summit of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which decided questions about the reformation of the world anti-doping Agency. The outcome of the long meeting was the signing of a new and important Declaration.
During the discussion, the IOC discussed the developments in the Agency’s policy.
-In the first place, it was decided to hold doping tests are independent of any sports organisations;
-The authority to punish athletes commit ourselves to the court of arbitration for sport;
-WADA must have large powers in managing the national anti-doping agencies;
-National plans of tests should be completely transparent;
Testing for the sake of efficiency, it is necessary to conduct worldwide;
Dishonest athletes, their coaches, doctors and other people from an environment of the Olympians should be subjected to criminal punishment for doping and inclination to it.
And most importantly: without exception, all national Olympic committees pledge to do anti-doping system “clean and transparent”.
But all this is just a listing of the theses and decisions of the meeting. What will this mean in reality?
After the doping scandal which dragged Russia, it is hardly possible the recurrence of such provocative situations. All the polls accusing the Russians of dishonesty and not allowing the Olympics to “clean” athletes, members of WADA bypassed numerous violations of the representatives of other States. While athletes with a clear conscience was barred from sporting events, the representatives of America and other countries won medals in a dishonest way. As shown by the publication of hidden WADA data obtained by anonymous hackers.
All these controversial data probably pushed the IOC to host this meeting to the Agency. There was no other way.
How this situation will go Russia? Take the situation under its control and will ensure the fairness of the implementation of all the above points. Now the policy of double standards will not have power in relation to the Olympic games.
The head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov has expressed a number of ideas and thoughts on the matter. Now Russia will closely monitor the “democratic” nature of the system. Zhukov said that in the future should focus not on the number of inspections of doping, and on their quality. He is confident that inspections should be done without regard to the nationality, that is, Olympians and Paralympians from now on should be checked the same way, under identical conditions, which was not informed.
Also, Russia intends to insist on the establishment of national diversity in the leadership of WADA. Now the Commission 17 U.S. citizens, 12 Canadians and two people from China.
The arrangement of the power to control the athletes of all countries to WADA will help to bring to justice for violations of the organization itself. That is, in the case of doping by someone, first and foremost, the punishment for unfair work will suffer the Agency itself.
Russia easily agreed with all the points of the Declaration, not doubting the integrity of their athletes. And what to do with a new Declaration of the United States, where the athletes took the Olympics largely due to the doping “hidden” sells and biased Commission?
