In the deep blue waters of the Pacific ocean, Truk lagoon, nowadays known as Chuuk, near the island of New Guinea is more than a dozen Japanese warships, three dozen merchant ships and a hundred aircraft.
Atoll was one of the main naval bases of the Imperial Japanese Navy South Pacific during world war II. Given the proximity of the Marshall Islands, the support of the flotilla on the Atoll of Chuuk was very important. Truk lagoon even called the Gibraltar of the South Pacific.
