Chevrolet has learned to predict the future

Chevrolet has launched a service Proactive Alerts, analyzing the condition of the vehicle and informing the driver about possible future breakdowns. Similar technology, noted in General Motors that is used in the Boeing 787, and the American automaker became the first company among competitors that involve her.

The system works using a satellite service, OnStar, owned by General Motors and fitted to the most modern models of the brand. The company noted that the technical analysis is “a complex system that collects billions of pieces of information”.

Proactive Alerts can predict the imminent discharge of the battery and send the message by SMS, email or directly on the multimedia system screen.

Every time the driver starts the car, the system analyzes the performance of the starter, fuel pump and battery. The data is checked against database for OnStar, and if the system detects a discrepancy indicators normal operation, the driver will be sent an informational message only.

Database is formed on the basis of the evidence collected from other cars. The message to the driver comes on the screen multimedia system, or SMS, or email – depending on which notification method will he choose in the settings, OnStar.

Button OnStar system, which is responsible for voice control, quick menu access and emergency call numbers are included on the housing of the salon mirrors.

Proactive service Alerts are already available for owners of the Chevy Silverado pickup truck, SUV, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette sports car and Equinox crossover, released in 2016. He is part of the basic OnStar subscription for five years. Subsequently, Proactive Alerts will also appear on other models by Chevrolet and General Motors.
