The center for monitoring and responding to computer attacks in the financial sphere (FinCERT) has recorded more than 20 attacks on Russian banks. About it reported in a press-service of the Central Bank.
The study notes that from June 2015 to may 2016 the cyber fraudsters stole more than 1 billion rubles. In addition, the fraudsters managed to steal about 100 million rubles from ATMs. The report also says that on the facts of theft 12 criminal cases.
The centre was able to prevent the theft of more than 1.5 billion RUB in close cooperation with banks and law enforcement agencies, as well as to neutralize several criminal groups.
The most common method of embezzlement is the use of viruses, fraudulent websites and SMS, the study authors added.
