At the beginning of the XIII century, in the year 1208, in Austria, in the lands of the Archbishopric of Salzburg was built pretty grim castle Moosham. The early middle ages was characterized by intolerance of the Catholic Church to dissent. Throughout Europe there raged a “Holy” Inquisition. Began hunting witches. Hundreds of thousands of people were burned at the stake, hanged, or beheaded. The Bishop of Salzburg was an ardent follower of the Inquisition. According to legend, these accidents still roam the castle. They also say that this castle was a werewolf. Truth or fiction, it is impossible to say now, but during restoration work in the basement was discovered the mutilated remains of animals. No one can answer the question of what it would mean.

After reconstruction in the late nineteenth century, the castle is open to tourists. They show a few rooms, weapons Arsenal and the coach house. Mysterious castle Moosham (Schloss Moosham) is often called the “witches castle”. The dark tower and gray walls, medieval buildings rise majestically over the river Mura. Moosham built in 1208. Then he belonged to the archbishops of Salzburg. In the walls Moosham condemned and executed hundreds of people declared by magicians, witches, criminals.

In 1522 the castle was expanded. Then it was not used, emptied and collapsed. In 1886 the ruins Moosham was bought by count Hans Wilczek. From the Gothic period and the only remaining stained glass Windows in the chapel, furnished bedrooms with ceramic tiled stove, some art.

Today, the restored Measham allow tourists – they show a few rooms, the Baroque bridge, weapons Arsenal, carriage house. Moosham is considered a mystical, mysterious castle. During the reconstruction in the basement found the mutilated skeletons of animals – so there was a version of that here dwelt a werewolf. They say that the souls of unjustly executed people roam here at night, lit candles, served voice. The current owner of the castle – a descendant of count Hans Wilczek, Alexander says that in Moosham still restless. Visitors to the castle often hear mysterious footsteps and felt a light, invisible touch.
