BMW is developing self-driving car

BMW announced plans to start mass production of a fully Autonomous vehicle by 2021 the ninth year. In the work of the German auto giant will help Intel and Mobileye.

Earlier, the head of BMW Harald Krueger has let slip that the company will release a driverless car by 2021 the ninth year. Now the German automaker has officially confirmed these plans. BMW also announced a partnership with Mobileye, a manufacturer of car security system, manufacturer Intel. The partners will work on the creation of Autonomous cars together.

The trio sees several stages of technology development. Previously, the autopilot will allow the driver to keep hands on the wheel, in the later stages he will be able to divert eyes from the road and not even think about the process of movement. At the final stage, the system will create cars in which the driver does not need.

In the near future, the partners plan to start testing the prototype with a high degree of autonomy. Next year, BMW and Mobileye, Intel will begin to test a fleet of unmanned cars.

The new model, which will appear in 2021, the year will be named BMW iNext. It is assumed that it will be a sedan, equipped with an electric motor.
