Hundreds of millions of years on the site of the present rock formations noisy rainforest – this area was near the equator on the continent, now called Pangaea. Scientists still have not come to a consensus on how from living trees turned to stone. It is likely that under the influence of a natural catastrophe trees were stacked up, the area where they grew up, turned into marshland, a huge log covered with silt, volcanic sediments, mud, and organic structure were gradually replaced rich minerals with water, transforming the former wood in silica that later crystallized into quartz.
