On passing in these days the Venice film festival held a screening of a restored version of the film “Stalker” directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. The tape was presented as part of the program Venezia Classici, which included 20 other masterpieces of world cinema over the years. This work is conducted primarily in order to preserve films for future generations. Despite the fact that restoration is a long and costly process, today the specialists of “Mosfilm” restored about 70 films. It is about five to ten paintings a year.”
