Assad compared the Syrian opposition with the unicorn

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad compared the moderate Syrian opposition with the mythical animal the unicorn.

These words of the Syrian leader said during an interview with the Danish TV channel TV2.

Explaining why it is impossible to make peace with the opposition, Assad said: “have You ever heard of a unicorn — an animal that looks like a horse with a horn in his forehead? It is a myth. And the moderate opposition — the same myth. We can’t make peace with what is not there. The opposition do not differ in grades, it is the same militants.”

The Syrian President also acknowledged that in the course of fighting, sometimes killing civilians, including women and children. But he categorically denied allegations of deliberate attacks on civilians. “I would not have approved of attacks on hospitals and other civilian objects, — said Assad. — We do not destroy them deliberately, and there’s a simple reason: if we behave, we will only increase the number of recruits for the militants, make them a gift that they so crave. It is contrary to our interests.”

According to Assad, Europe is not an enemy of Damascus Europeans cheated US, in cooperation with the banned terrorist organization “Islamic state” trying to destabilize Syria.
