The journal Space announced that the company SpaceWorks Enterprises closely studying the possibility of using hibernation, known to many viewers of sci-Fi movies. Such technology may allow to transport a crew of several hundred astronauts on the remote planet such as Mars.

Specialists SpaceWorks Enterprises trying to develop equipment that will allow to transport people hiberna in a state close to suspended animation, with no harm to health. It’s tricky, because space travel should take several months or years (it is believed that modern technologies can allow to reach Mars in 6-9 months). New technology, called “hypothermic stasis” (hypothermic stasis), due to slow metabolism by 50-70% – in many ways this will be achieved by lowering body temperature to -13 degrees Celsius. Thus, among other things, reduced oxygen consumption, the consumption of food and the amount of space needed to transport a large number of people.

Travel hiberna as shown in many sci-Fi movies on space exploration, in particular in the film “Space Odyssey 2001” and “interstellar”. Also around similar technologies will be tied and the plot of the new blockbuster movie “Passengers” with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, which will be released on Russian screens on December 22.
