In St. Petersburg starts one of the largest and oldest Russian film festivals documentary orientation – “Message to Man” will be held in the Northern capital in the 26 th time. Open review of the new film of the famous German filmmaker Werner Herzog, “Oh, the dreams of the digital world”.

The film will be screened on a special screen at the Palace square. Sam Werner Herzog, who directed in his career more than seventy games and documentaries, will present its work in St. Petersburg. In his new film “On the Internet: dreams of the digital world,” Herzog explores the virtual world since its inception, studying the digital landscape with stunning inventiveness, with which he had previously applied to the most different places on Earth. This is a film-reflection about how the virtual world is transforming almost all aspects of the real world from business to education, from space flight to health, right down to the core of our personal relations.
Large-scale opening ceremony of the festival will conclude with a concert by Yuri Shevchuk and his band DDT – according to the President of the festival, people’s artist of Russia Alexei Uchitel, musician “to the direction of the forum and is a musical message to the people.”

In the program of the festival “Message to Man” was included documentary, short, feature and animated films from around the world. Just at the festival were sent to record the amount of material in all the years of his work: about seven thousand films from almost 80 countries from different continents. As a result, in the competition program included about a hundred movies. The festival will host ten special programs and four retrospectives and films will be shown in thirteen venues.
The honorary guest of the festival will be French actress Isabelle Huppert, which will be awarded the prize “For contribution to world cinema”.
