Rating from Transparency International.
Annually, non-governmental international organization for the fight against corruption is the Transparency International corruption perception Index (CPI) in the public sector of different countries. In Transparency International noted that there is a clear and uniform way to assess absolute levels of corruption in different countries and regions based on accurate empirical data.” That is logical, because corruption always carefully conceal.
Nevertheless, the team managed to compile a rankings of the most corrupt countries in the world, based on the results of various studies. Index 2016 covers 168 countries that are evaluated by stoballnoy scale, where 0 is the highest level of corruption and 100 is its absence.
The most corrupt countries are in Africa and the middle East, where legal and governmental system is low developed and poverty is widespread. This year, the worst results showed Somalia and North Korea began — they got 8 points, followed by Afghanistan (11 points) and Sudan (12 points). The least corrupt government in the world recognized by Denmark, which scored 91 points.
Special attention was paid to the countries belonging to the Organization for economic cooperation and development, and their position in the ranking of Transparency International.
Ireland
Ireland scored 75 points, which makes it one of the least corrupt countries in the world. However, in 2015, broadcaster RTE aired a documentary on how Irish policy was skimming for personal interests, and some councillors took bribes in exchange for providing services.
Japan
By global standards the level of corruption in Japan is low, however, the anti-corruption portal, GAN Integrity reports that the country is widely practiced in the appointment of retired government officials in key positions in leading corporations, even if they lack the necessary experience.
Chile
Despite the fact that Chile is one of the most corrupt countries in the OECD, it is also the least corrupt government in Latin America — in contrast to Brazil, Venezuela and Paraguay, who are mired in bribery and fraud. In the ranking of Transparency International, Chile has received 70 points — three less than last year.
Estonia
In 2012, under the leadership of President Toomas Hendrik Ilves was adopted by the anti-corruption law, which allows to increase transparency in the public sector. It helped the country to score 70 points instead of last year’s 69.
France
France also improved the results compared to last year and scored 70 points out of 100. The portal GAN notes that “the penal code criminalizes active and passive bribery and bribery of French and foreign officials.”
Portugal
According to a survey by Ernst & Young 2015, 83% of the citizens of Portugal have confirmed widespread bribery and corruption in the country, and in 2014, former Prime Minister Jose Socrates was arrested on suspicion of tax evasion and money laundering. In the corruption perception Index Portugal scored 63 points.
Poland
Poland got 62 points out of 100, narrowly avoiding falling into the list of 10 most corrupt countries in the OECD. “Political corruption is a problem for private business, as politicians use their position to obtain certain advantages, and is widely used sweetnest and nepotism,” says the portal GAN Integrity.
Israel
Israel scored 61 out of 100. In may 2015, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was found guilty in the case of receiving a bribe of 150 thousand dollars from the American magnate.
Slovenia
In recent years, Slovenia has played several high-profile corruption scandals. In 2013 and 2014 were mass demonstrations against Prime Minister Janez Jansa and opposition leader Zoran Jankovic, as both were accused of concealing their personal assets.
Spain
Even before the elections, opposition leaders accused the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy of corruption, and more recently in the ruling people’s party, a new scandal erupted: 24 people were arrested on suspicion of bribery. In the ranking of Transparency International Spain scored 58 points.
Czech Republic
Last year the Czech Republic has earned 51 points and this is already 56. Looks like a major corruption scandal, which in 2013 Prime Minister Petr Nečas forcibly retired, disappearing.
South Korea
In 2015, South Korea burst into a loud corruption scandal in which Prime Minister Li Wang was forced to resign. A well-known businessman in his suicide note accused him of bribery. In the end, the country scored 56 points out of 100.
Hungary
Compared to last year, Hungary lost a few points, and its current score is 51. In the country the common practice of giving small bribes to health workers, and, according to polls, 92% of the Hungarians consider it normal.
Slovakia
This country has the same result as in Hungary: 51 out of 100. Slovakia is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe. Since December 2011 there has been simmering powerful corruption scandal “Gorilla” — the bribery was caught, politicians, prominent businessmen and officials.
Greece
Compared to last year the level of corruption in Greece declined this year, the country scored 46 points, compared to 43 in 2015. the country is widespread “fakelaki” (in Greek — is a small envelope). This word the Greeks called bribes in order to receive better service.
Italy
Corruption in the third largest Eurozone economy is often associated with the name of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has repeatedly been convicted of bribery. In 2013, he was convicted on the case of tax evasion, and in 2015 — to bribe the Senator. In the corruption perception Index Italy scored 44 points.
Turkey
Turkey — the most corrupt country in Europe in the ranking of Transparency International, she scored 42 points out of 100. In 2013 the company shook up the scandal with the head of the state Bank and other well-known defendants, who were involved in the bribery, fraud, smuggling and money laundering.

Mexico
Mexico is the most corrupt country in the OECD. She got only 25 points, which is not surprising, because it was through her drugs from Latin America enter the United States. A notorious drug Lord Joaquin Guzman Loera, nicknamed El Chapo twice escaped from prison with the help of huge bribes that he gave prison officials.
