The city authorities of Helsingborg in the South of Sweden came to architects Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter to design a new kindergarten. R Forskola located on the beautiful beach near the school building. In its form the new kindergarten with an area of 525 square meters refers to the sloping dunes and traditional fishermen’s houses.
It is designed for four groups of children, each of which designed your “house”. They are all linked, and acts as the unifying element of a common area. As separators are used bookshelves from plywood, which together with the uniform green floors, creating the effect of a continuous space, as well as alluding to the sustainability of the project.

The large Windows offer views of the coastline and the inner courtyard which provides a protected play area.
