VTB thinking about selling the Ukrainian business

VTB is the second in terms of assets in Russia, the financial organization may sell its Ukrainian business, as it does not see opportunities for development in the country. This was stated by the head of the Bank Andrey Kostin, reports on Tuesday, may 17, RIA Novosti.

“As for Ukraine, we bear substantial losses. We do not see great opportunities there, both economic and political. I think if we had a chance, we’d sold the business, what would it have increased or preserved”, — quotes Agency of his word.

Net profit (RAS) of VTB Bank by the end of 2015 amounted to 1.7 billion rubles, which is 112.5% higher than in 2014.

In December of 2015 Kostin said that the Russian economy and banking sector survives and will grow, despite the sanctions. In the same month, the Ukrainian subsidiary of VTB Bank fell under US sanctions. The Bank said it continues to work normally, but restrictions had no effect on his activities.
