The drugs against male impotence, including Viagra, has been able to reduce the risk of heart diseases. As writes on Wednesday, June 15, edition of the Daily Express, a study was conducted by specialists of the center of cardiac surgery, University of Manchester (UK). It is expected that the article will be published in the next issue of the journal BMJ.
It turned out that the admission of erectile dysfunction reduces the arrhythmia (rhythm disturbance of the heartbeat), which often becomes a cause of death in patients with heart failure.
In addition, the researchers followed a group of six of the thousands of diabetics who had been prescribed drugs such as “Viagra”. According to statistics, people suffering from diabetes are more prone to the diseases of the cardiovascular system, including heart attacks. However, under the supervision of the patients was the opposite situation.
“Heart failure is a devastating condition in which your heart is not pumping blood through the body as before (…) At present, the prospects for patients with this disease rather grim — worse than in some types of cancer. Our research has shown that drugs commonly used for the treatment of impotence, in fact, have a very pronounced effect slows the progression of heart failure. Currently, the scientists plan to conduct clinical studies that will establish how the drugs like “Viagra” affect the development of heart disease.
In 2014 specialists from the University of Rome La Sapienza has performed with the assumption that medication against impotence useful for men who have a predisposition to cardiovascular disease. To this conclusion they came, after analyzing articles on medicine from 2004 to 2014 are presented in four major scientific databases (Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library and Scopus).
