USA lost their status as the most competitive economy

The U.S. economy lost the title of most competitive, dropping from first to third place in the annual ranking of competitiveness compiled by the Swiss Institute for management (IMD).

After three years of US leadership lost the title to Kong, in second place was Switzerland. Singapore, who previously held the third spot, lost one position. The top ten also includes Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and Canada.

Russia rose during the year in the ranking by one place up to 44th place. Her neighbors in the rankings were Slovenia (43rd), and Mexico (45-e a place). Ukraine also managed to slightly improve its position, climbing from 60th to 59th position. At the same time Kazakhstan has lost 13 positions, once on 47-m a place.

China was down three lines from 22 th to 25-th place. The outsider recognized by Venezuela, took the 61st position. Belarus in the rating were not included.

As the head of IMD’s Arturo Bris, Hong Kong was the leader of the rating due to the commitment to create a favorable business environment, while the Swiss economy was noted for its quality. “The United States continues to have the best economic performance in the world, but there are many other factors that we take into consideration when assessing competitiveness,” he explained.

IMD is the world competitiveness ranking each year since 1989. The scale shows how States can create the conditions for effective business development and economic growth. Countries were assessed for 369 indicators, which are divided into four groups: the overall efficiency of the economy (includes the macroeconomic indicators), governance (including the level of corruption), business efficiency and infrastructure development (transport and social). The rankings takes into account both official statistics and surveys of experts.

In November 2015, Russia for the third consecutive year managed to improve the situation in the global competitiveness ranking prepared by the world economic forum (WEF). It climbed eight positions to 45th place, caught between Latvia and Mauritius and ahead of such countries as Turkey and the Philippines.
