Illya Marchenko became the fifth representative of Ukraine, who managed to win opening match at U.S. Open championship.
The second racket of Ukraine for four hours coped with the experienced Croat Ivan Dodiga. From Marchenko had all the chances to win the match in three sets, but when the score was 2:0 after a break, Ilya missed his serve in the tenth game missed a match-point.
Vesparally spirit Dodig snatched a third party, and in the fourth set led 5:2. Fortunately, Marchenko was able to turn the tide of a failed cut – after winning five games in a row, from Donetsk for the third time in his career, reaching the second round at the US Open.
