Ukrainian Oschadbank lost the case for “Sberbank”

Украинский Ощадбанк проиграл суд за "Сбербанк"

The state of the Ukrainian Oschadbank lost the court of first instance of the trademark “Sberbank”. The case was considered by the Economic court of Kiev. Relevant information is available on the website of the Ukrainian financial institution.

The report said that the court decision has not entered into force and the Bank will appeal against it. The credit organization also insists that the brand of “Sberbank” belonged to her even before Sberbank of Russia began to provide financial services on the territory of Ukraine.

Oschadbank has filed a lawsuit against Sberbank (previously the organization was called the “Subsidiary Bank Sberbank of Russia”) for violation of intellectual property rights in early 2016. The organization considers itself the only legitimate owner of the trademark “Sberbank” on the territory of Ukraine.

In July Oschadbank has filed a lawsuit against Russia for 40 billion rubles. Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that in this way the credit organization is trying to obtain compensation for “annexation” of Crimea (Ukraine called the annexation of Crimea by Russia in a referendum).

According to the Minister of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev, the claims of the Bank were futile.
