UEFA in 2018 plans to radically change the format of the Champions League.
According to the authoritative Italian edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport” in the redesigned Champions League maximum representation is in England, Germany, Spain and Italy.
It is assumed that three clubs will get to the group stage according to the results of last season, and even one team from each of four of the above Championships will be selected according to the historical principle. Thus, UEFA hopes to avoid cases where such clubs as “Manchester United” “Milan” or “Liverpool do not qualify for the Champions League.
Two spots in the group stage, according to plans of the League, will get Russia, France, Portugal, Ukraine, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey will have to settle for one guaranteed spot.
If now through qualification to the group stage of the Champions League come the 10 of clubs, when a new format in the preliminary tournament will be played only five vouchers. Details of the format of the qualification is still unknown.
