Ukraine in mourning: the agreement on “Turkish stream” can sign tomorrow

A meeting of the intergovernmental Commission of Russia and Turkey, which will be held in Istanbul on 10-12 October can bring the finished agreement on the Turkish stream. This opinion was expressed in a press interview the Minister of energy of Russia Alexander Novak.

 

According to him, the draft agreement is ready. It was developed taking into account the interests of the two countries. And there is a big chance for a speedy signing of this project. Such news is unlikely to please the Ukrainian government, as in the case of the launch of the gas pipeline through the Black sea and Turkey, Ukraine’s importance to ensure Europe’s energy security will begin to plummet. Ukraine may lose a significant share of the profits from the transit through its territory.

 

In addition, documentary completion of major joint Russian-Turkish projects will help to restore economic ties between the two countries. We are talking about two similar projects: the gas pipeline “Turkish stream” as an alternative path for fuel from Russia to Europe. And construction of NPP “Akkuyu” in the Turkish territory by Russian specialists. All this will enliven the trade turnover between Russia and Turkey, concluded Novak.

 

In 2014, the trade turnover between Russia and Turkey reached a record 35 billion dollars. However, subsequently, due to the actions of Turkey (the incident with the downed Russian bomber) for almost a year, bilateral relations were frozen….
