U.S. policy: the road to peace or world domination?

Политика США: дорога к миру или мировому господству?

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg after the last April 21 meeting of the Council Russia – NATO said that the two sides had “profound disagreements”.

“In recent years, allies have witnessed a serious reduction in transparency of military activity in conjunction with the intensification of military activities, increasing strength and tough rhetoric from Russia,” said Stoltenberg.

As you can see, the American partners once again named Russia as “the root of all evil”. Unfortunately, the U.S. together with its allies demonstrate a remarkable ability to forget, or not notice of the facts of violation not only of international law in General, but also more specific agreements aimed at maintaining stability in the world.

In this regard, we can recall the unprecedented militarization of American countries of the Baltic region, placing in their territory of warehouses of heavy weapons and equipment. And all anything, but such an Alliance violates the Founding act Russia-NATO of 1997, which reads: “NATO will not carry out its collective defence and other tasks by additional permanent placement of substantial combat forces”. Question about the legality of such activities was repeatedly raised by the Russian side, however, understanding has not been achieved. The unwillingness of Americans to consider anyone’s interests but their own, according to the words of General Curtis Scaparotti (the most probable candidate on a post of the Supreme commander of allied powers in Europe), who last week during the hearings of the Defence Committee in the Senate stated: “the United States should consider deployment of troops in Eastern Europe on a permanent basis”.

Notably, the U.S. partners did not significantly differ integrity in the implementation of international agreements. The fact that the U.S. is a signatory to the Treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe (CFE Treaty) 1990 Treaty, which was set equal to the number of conventional weapons and military equipment, as well as their limitations for NATO and the CSTO. However, instead of the faithful execution of the agreement, the United States found a way around the limitations it placed through unjustified NATO expansion towards the Russian borders after the collapse of the USSR. The fact is that by making the Alliance the new members (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, etc.) that are not parties to the CFE Treaty, the Americans, in fact, exceeded the limits of permissible weapons, creating a “hole” in international security, and legal and nothing broke.

Ultimately, the policy of the American team, which is not covered by the desire to aggravate relations with Russia, led to the fact that the latter withdrew from the Treaty in 2015 unilaterally. It should be noted that this was preceded by Moscow’s repeated attempts to adapt the CFE Treaty to modern conditions by the inclusion of the Baltic countries in the field of contract, however, blocking and repeated breakdown of the negotiation process with the United States invalidated the initiative of the Russian side.

It is noteworthy that the Kremlin has questioned the implementation of the Americans and other important agreements on arms control – open-ended Contract on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range nuclear forces (INF), 1987. It is noteworthy that the USA and here has shown its resourcefulness: U.S.-made unmanned aerial vehicles do not fall under the definition of cruise missiles in the Contract, have the ability to carry military charges (including nuclear). In the U.S., the situation is in breach not believe, and to extend the agreement on the UAV refuse.

Unfortunately, the US has demonstrated the unshakable faith in its uniqueness, while continuing to close their eyes to violations of international treaties in the field of arms control. Unambiguous evidence can serve as data of the annual report on the implementation of such agreements, which was promulgated on 12 April by the state Department. The document States that “the U.S. continues to fulfill its obligations and make efforts to thoroughly comply with the agreements in the field of arms control”.

Turns out American partners are using these arrangements is limited, particularly without burdening themselves, thereby turning them into a tool for manipulation of other countries. No coincidence the USA, achieving overwhelming military superiority, persistently promote the idea of transparency and less of interest to real disarmament and arms limitation. This practice, in turn, creates distrust between the States and compromises the very idea of regional and global security
