The Confederation of African football has presented the expanded list of contenders for the title of best player of the continent.
The main favorite is the current holder of the award Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – striker Borussia Dortmund and the national team of Gabon remains the best scorer of his club and his national team Aubameyang helped to get into the final stage of the qualifiers.
The main competitors of the Forward considered to be the leader of Leicester’s Riyad of Mahrez, the Nigerian striker “Manchester city” Kelechi, Iheanacho, the best scorer of the Portuguese League and newcomer “Lester” Islam Slimani is a striker of the national team of DR Congo and “Villarreal” Cedric Bakambu.
The name of the best player of Africa will be known on the fifth of January 2017 at the gala concert in the capital of Nigeria, Abuja. Traditionally, the winner is determined by the coaches of the 53 members of the African football Confederation.
Under the current format the best player of Africa identify with 1992. Four times the victory was won by Samuel Eto’o and Yaya Toure.
