The philosophers of Ancient Greece believed that man’s main merit is the reason. Thinkers of the Enlightenment echoed this sentiment and believed that the development of Sciences, social and technical progress will make the life of Homo sapiens. The truth of the human being is being reasonable. But something went wrong, and mankind willingly fell into a massive rejection of rationality. This is evidenced by the ongoing worldwide process of the legalization of drugs.

Voluntary madness

For centuries, Europeans were familiar with only one powerful drug with alcohol. In his regard even in ancient times, almost the same words of Pythagoras, Aristotle and the father of medicine Hippocrates said, “drunkenness – a voluntary madness”. Since then, the drinking did not become less crazy, but alcohol added to other drugs. Consumption of any drug is a voluntary madness, for it deprives a person of its main advantages is mind.

It seems that humanity has decided to abandon reason, if in many countries there is a growing movement for the legalization of drugs. While we are talking about the so-called soft drugs – cannabis and products based on it. Fans of “toking up” painted charms of cannabis and urged the government to legalize it a narcotic potion. Some countries have gone on about their poor weak spirit and mind of citizens.

Sing along with them, oddly enough, and doctors, as if forgetting the words of his spiritual father of Hippocrates of drunkenness. According to doctors from the organization “Doctors without borders”, the legalization of soft drugs will result in improved public health because it will allow people to consume pure and drugs tested in controlled conditions. In April we will hold a special session of the UN General Assembly, which will be reviewed by a global approach to illegal turnover of drugs used in 1998.

Well, let’s see, what about this thing in some countries.

Netherlands

The Netherlands became somewhat of an icon in legalise and generally liberal politics in everything in what only it is possible. In 2001 the Netherlands became the first country to legalize same-sex marriage. This was followed by legalization of euthanasia and soft drugs. In this country is actually not full legalization of cannabis. It can be used in special coffee shops, as they call it, upon reaching a certain age. The import and export of herb Smoking. For these reasons, the Netherlands has become attractive to tourists, who go there not for sightseeing, but for high. By the way, one time in Holland were allowed even hallucinogenic mushrooms, but they were again banned in 2008.

Uruguay

How much do we know about Uruguay? But now know that Uruguay went on Holland in the legalization of cannabis. In 2013, she became fully legal drug. However, this country was distinguished by liberal views in this matter even during the dictatorship of 1973-1985. Now, however, consumers weed persuaded the government that the open sale of the drug is safer than the black market. In fairness, it should be noted that legalization does not mean lack of control. Government bodies registering “cannabis clubs” where people under one roof to grow hemp. Consumers should also register. Since the second half of this year, hemp can be bought in pharmacies in Uruguay.

Portugal

In 2001, Portugal had decriminalized soft drugs. This means the exclusion of a number of criminal offences growing herbs for yourself and use it. The authorities justified this step by the fact that the country is hooked on hard drugs: heroin addicts were 1% of the population. The Portuguese government believes that this step will significantly reduce drug mortality rate in the country, where it now is 3 per million per year, while the EU average it is equal to 17.3 people per million.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is in third place in the number of consumers of marijuana after France and Spain. Legislation in the Czech Republic can be called condescending. A small amount of herbs for personal use does not constitute punishment. Excess of norms, as well as possession of other drugs subject to a fine or imprisonment.

Switzerland

Switzerland is considered a symbol of prosperity. It seems that there are no drug problems should not be. Why to intoxicate, if the already well? But not everyone is sweet to live in the best country in the world of chocolate. Thirty years ago, Switzerland had been a leader in Europe in the number of HIV-infected people, most of whom were heroin addicts.

In 1986 in Switzerland for the first time in the world, shelters have been established for drug addicts and special facilities, where addicts could shoot up drugs with a sterile syringe. Across the country have been placed the exchange of syringes. Former President Ruth Dreifuss said in 2010: “We extended a hand of friendship to drug addicts and brought them out of the shadows”. Three years ago in the Alpine Republic was decriminalized marijuana, explaining that it frees up the police to fight drug traffickers.

USA

In 23 US States allowed medical use of marijuana as substitutes for the opiate painkillers. In four States you can grow cannabis for personal use and to use it. In General, US law concerning drugs are very strict: for 1 gram of LSD or five grams of cocaine, you can sit for five years without parole. President Barack Obama believes that it is wrong, because five years of prison turns people into complete criminals. Obama himself boasted that he had tried pot in College.

In this story wonder-drug that everyone knows where drugs are produced. Take for example Afghanistan. When they came to power the Taliban, first they tried to capitalize on the opium-raw, but then found out where the money is given, and joined the UNESCO programme “Bread instead of drugs.” The Taliban began to force farmers to grow wheat instead of poppy. In the end, the totality of the repressive measures and encouraging the cultivation of opium in Afghanistan was almost reduced to zero.

However, after the defeat of the Taliban, troops of the Western coalition and the occupation of the country by NATO forces, the production of opium has not only returned to previous levels, but it is more than it evolved. Draw your own conclusions, and who as struggles with addiction.
