According to the statement of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko, before the civil war military equipment of the country actively sold, which led to the “inability” of its army, writes Лiга.net. Lutsenko said that now is checking this “mindless” sales and has already revealed “sensational material”.
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that before the civil war and the “occupation” of the Crimea the army of the country was looted of almost 2 billion UAH, reports Лiга.net.
According to Lutsenko, the most active sale of Ukrainian military equipment took place in the period up to 2005, however, the majority of documents confirming it, was destroyed. Prosecutor General’s office deals with the restoration of all documentation and verification of commercial enterprises.
As noted by the attorney General, only tanks, helicopters, drones and other military equipment and ammunition remaining from the Soviet era, was sold for $ 1 billion 837 million 299 thousand hryvnias.
“I can say without revealing the secrecy of the investigation in detail, only that we found sensational material that suggests that former heads of the Ministry of defense endured from the Ministry of defence a complete list of cash and weapons, which is a secret document and processed it to destroy the combat capability of Ukraine. Evaluation of these and other officials will be given, and it will be done in the current year”, – quotes the portal words Lutsenko.
However, he added that the investigation assesses the activities of those individuals who considered military property “excess” and gave the order about selling it.
The attorney General said: “unfortunately, the fact is that mindless selling, and then the deliberate destruction of the armed forces led to the complete incapacity of the Ukrainian army in the beginning of the war. I mean the beginning of the occupation of the Crimea and the first attacks of terrorists in Donetsk region”.
