The Ukrainian authorities have come up with a way of dealing with Russian books

Власти Украины придумали способ борьбы с российскими книгами

The government of Ukraine is considering the possibility of introducing a system of permits on the books of Russia. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for humanitarian Affairs Viacheslav Kyrylenko during the meeting with writers and publishers, the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

“It is proposed the permissive principle — more effective than a complete ban of book products from the aggressor country. The book market need to be protected from books that contain Russian propaganda”, — said Kirilenko. He added that such a step is justified in terms of doing a Ukraine military operations in the Donbass.

1 APR Kirilenko, who at the time the position of the Minister of culture, suggested the Verkhovna Rada to allow law enforcement agencies to seize trading networks from the books of Russian origin. According to him, the list of publishers whose products should be prohibited, is already ready.

In August 2015, the state Committee of Ukraine published the list of 38 books, in respect of which the decision to ban the import into the territory of the country.

Kiev after the change of government in early 2014 has taken measures designed to prevent the receipt in the information field of the country of production from Russia. On 29 March the Ukrainian Parliament banned the broadcast of all Russian films made or first published in the Russian Federation after January 1, 2014. Earlier, Ukraine banned the screening in the country almost 400 films and TV series, which refer to works that “promote the organs of the aggressor state”, which in Kiev Russia mean.

The armed conflict in the Donbas began in April 2014, after Kiev authorities announced the start of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) — as in Kiev called an attempt of forceful suppression of protests in Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Kiev regularly accuses of meddling in the conflict Russia. In Moscow deny these charges, citing a lack of evidence.
